Ear lobe growth

What would cause the cartilage just above the ear lobe to suddenly grow. There is no pain, just expansion of the area.

sometimes(frequently) I am completely overwhelmed with a scent..good,bad,sweet,spicey,,that no one else smells, but has completely overwhelmed me to the point of nausea and vomiting. This began 6 months ago when I returned to my hometown after 25 yrs
